Companies to Watch
Last night, Mike Gamson, VP Corporate Solutions at LinkedIn spoke to a packed house at Toad's Place in downtown Richmond VA. While his presentation to the group may have been somewhat technical, it was nevertheless quite interesting. His overriding message was that we should all get on the band-wagon with web 2.0, the technology that is making so many more things possible on the web. Among these are collaboration tools, various utilities and of course blogging. He strongly encouraged businesses to start a blog. His comments were that a company blog should carry the theme of topics important to the company. Along this theme, feedback can be generated by customers. Feedback is not always positive, but it makes more sense to do something about the negatives possibly to the point of swaying the opinion of any dissatisfied customers. Most importantly, keep moving forward with the blog, tackling new challenges, talking about interesting topics and engaging the reader to the extent possible with articles posted.
